Price is no longer a factor in which console you should buy between the PS4 and the Xbox One. Both prices have dipped tremendously for this holiday season, allowing you to get a great deal. You must know the pros and cons of each console to make the right choice for you. This PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One review will cover the features, strengths, and weaknesses of each in an unbiased manner to help you come to a decision.

Who Has the Better Exclusives?

An important consideration for some is which console has the better exclusives. And is there an exclusive game that you want to play badly enough to buy the console for?

What About RAM?

At first glance, you would think the PS4 and Xbox One are equal when it comes to RAM because both have 8 GB of RAM. However, that is not the case because the type of RAM they use differs. The PS4 has the upper hand with its 8GB GDDR5 memory, which is faster than the Xbox One's 8GB DDR3 memory.

Another important difference is the RAM is allocated differently. The PS4 reserves up to 3.5 GB for its operating system, whereas the Xbox One only takes 3 GB for its operating system.

Which Console Has Better Graphics?

Video games have a higher resolution on the PS4 than on the Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 can handle more foliage in environments that the Xbox One. However, there is no noticeable difference in graphic quality between the console.

As newer generations, they both have great graphics. You really have to analyze to see which console has better graphics. This factor shouldn't be important when it comes to choosing between the PS4 and Xbox One.

The PS4 Has a Full-Fledged Virtual Reality Headset

A feature that sets the PS4 apart is its PlayStation VR, a virtual reality headset. The Xbox One doesn't currently offer a VR headset that can be used with their console.

PS4's Controller vs. Xbox One's Controller

Both controllers are comfortable and well-made, so it really comes down to player preference. The PS4 and Xbox One controllers are more ergonomic than the controllers of their predecessors.

Xbox improved its controller for the Xbox One by tweaking the D-pad and adding an extra rumble effect to the shoulder buttons via "impulse triggers". PlayStation also improved the PS4 controller in comparison to the PS3's controller. The PS4 controller has recessed divot dual analog sticks and a larger DualShock 4. It is easier to grip during long gaming sessions than the PS3 controller as well.

Kinect vs. PS4 Camera

Unfortunately, Kinect no longer comes with a purchase of the Xbox One. Kinect is a promising technology, though. It can monitor your heart rate, facial expressions, and 25 of your joints. Xbox One's Kinect processes 2 GB of data per second. The camera also has a 60% wider field of vision than the Xbox 360's Kinect. The downside is there aren't many games for Xbox One Kinect yet.

Similarly, there aren't many PS4 Camera games either at the moment. If you plan on using the PS4 VR headset, then you'll have to buy the PS4 camera too since the headset relies on the camera to know where your head is.

Which Console is More Powerful?

Both the PS4 and the Xbox One are more powerful than their predecessors. They were constructed with smart internal designs as well. The Xbox One has a more powerful CPU, but the PS4 has the more powerful GPU.

Xbox's console has a 1.75 GHz AMD 8-core CPU compared to the PS4's 1.6 GHz AMD 8-core CPU. The PS4 features 1.84 teraflop GPU, greater than the Xbox's 1.31 teraflop GPU. PlayStation's console has faster graphics rendering than the Xbox One.
